The ageing Altis is about to be replaced by the 10th generation Corolla. Expect it to come as early as next month! No major changes though, which is a big disappointment. To keep the cost down to the sub-RM120K range (in order not to compete directly with the Camry), expect no changes to the engine. It should retain the old ZZ engine, which means 1.8 litre 4 gear automatic, unlike the European version which has the 5 gear dual VVTI. The Altis has already been launched in Thailand last month (http://www.bkkautos.com/node/558), so expect our local Altis to be exactly the same as their version.
I personally like the new appearance, although some do not feel the same way. The existing Altis has been cleared off. Even Toyota's website has already taken off their Altis catalogue to make way for the new Altis. I guess you can now make your bookings to avoid a long queue. I personally think that this is going to be another best-seller from Toyota. After all, it's a Toyota right?
