i've been always wanted to shoot the tripod & head since the very day i bought them.
i got them about a month ago from J-One, Amcorp Mall.
it was a pleasant experience dealing with Jason. (related thread (http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=798)).

so these are a few shots that i took just now.

> Manfrotto 190XProB + Manfrotto 804RC2.

> water level on tripod.
1372

> leg can be stretched up to 90 degree.
> adjustable vertical/horizontal bar.
1373

> Manfrotto 804RC2 3-way pan-tilt head
1374

> quick release.
> water level on the head.
1375

so far, i have no problem with this tripod & head.
i bring them almost everywhere i go.
very solid & stable.
up to 90 degree stretchable legs really helpful.
never use that adjustable vertical/horizontal bar.
about the head, quite fussy to setup compared to ballhead.
however, really stable & precise.
overall, i find them very satisfying.
hope u enjoy my brief review.

feel free to add-up... :D

Hi Noruazumi,

It is really a nice tripod, made in italy right, i saw the mark there?

Mind to tell the material made of each part of this tripod ? metal or plastic?

Any other tripod better than this?

How much kg can this tripod carry?

Hi RobertNikon.... Italy made yes, it is made of Aluminium and the weight is about 2.6KG depending on the head.... and it holds about 5kg of max weight.... get a head that can support about the same max weight then u can fully utilize this tripod :P

There is alot of good tripods available depending on what you wan (features) for example of afew good one like Gitzo, Benro, Slik ... they are all equally good with this Manfrotto. If you are looking for something light in weight, try Carbon Fibre(CF) make from any of the brand mentioned. If for functionality which has got similar feature like Noru's tripod but CF as well, Manfrotto 055MF3 or the Benro C-297 are quite effortable with an 8kg of weight support and ready for adjustable centre stem for macro photography. Note that CF tripods are more stiff compared to aluminium thus less vibration when taking pics.

:D Just my share cause I am hunting for one too... lol

thanks to galee for the explanations. :D

RobertNikon,
can u share what gears do u have so that all of us can recommend u the most suited tripod for your gear. so far u've been very general and it's very hard for us to assist u. manfrotto most probably the common brand that many ppl trust due to its durability, function, price and look. if u like ballhead, let me recommend you to buy Manfrotto 190XProB + Manfrotto 486RC2. this setup can hold up to 5kg. if u want tripod that can support heavier gear, u should check out the "Professional" series at www.manfrotto.com. download Manfrotto 2007 catalog from the official website or click here (http://vhub.sg/pdf/Manfrotto_Photo_2006-07.pdf). have a look and if u still having difficulty deciding, shortlist some models and maybe all of us can help starting from there.

these tripod & head that i showed here is not the top-of-the-line products.
for these type, i would have to say RM500 to RM700 depends on the tripod & head that you want.
top-of-the-line tripod & head can go way up to thousands of Malaysia Ringgit.
my brother's tripod cost him RM1100.
worth it since his gears worth more than 15 times the amount of money that he have to pay for the tripod & head.

good stuffs does not come cheap.
like my brother always said to me, "if u pay peanut, u get monkey!".

for more details on the pricing please contact shutterasia's featured shops.

Any difference between the 190xProB and the 190ProB???

Cost should be RM350 for 190PROB and RM360++ for 190XPORB

Head cost for 486RC2 is RM240 and 488RC2 is RM 260++.

Hope this helps.... 488RC2 and 486RC2 can support more weight but not your tripod, so no point paying extra for that tripod. Get a cheap smaller head should do the trick...

I'm currently having 2 tripods and 1 head, the same one as you do zumi ;)
my tripods :

Manfrotto 055CL and also 190PROB
Head 804RC2

I would just like to add, that the last number in the product numbering system for manfrotto heads actually denotes the maximum weight the head was designed for. In this case, 804RC2 can withstand holding sturdily a camera body, lenses and other stuff you might pop on, up to 4kgs. This is more than I will ever need. :)

My advice on getting heads if those who are still contemplating about it... know what you wanna shoot. :) While yes ballheads are faster to setup and easier to pack, they are not so "landscape shooter" friendly. And this goes vice versa for those 3-way heads.

Oh, by the way, my 055 is up for grabs. Any takers? :P
