Lambency Flash Diffuser (LFD) (http://www.flash-diffuser.com/) is designed to disperse light evenly and further soften the light, hence eliminates unwanted cast shadows, giving a studio lighting liked effect. This is particularly useful for portrait, product and wedding event photography. LFD P-series is made of clear vinyl. It is light, soft and flexible, easily fitted into most camera bags. The mounting ensures a snug fit and quick remove. No adapter or Velcro is needed.

1. Do you recommend this over the conventional diffuser e.g. Stofen Omnibounce?
2. I notice that it doesn't come with the color dome. If you sell it separately, what's the price for the color domes? Are they necessary?

Hi mhniam,

1. Yes, I strongly recommend Lambency over Stofen Omnibounce. You can see a comparison in the following website.

Lambency has the same design as Lightsphere II. Compare Stofen Omnibounce with Lightsphere II results. As you can see pictures taken using Stofen has a cast shadow while Lambency almost no shadow. What stofen does is creates a diffused bare bulb effect. A bare bulb will still creates shadow, while Lambency diffuses light in all directions, hence eliminates all shadows.

2. The color dome are to match the colour temperature of the flash output to that of the ambient light.

Because the flash has a fixed colour temp, and you are lighting the subject with it, the background can become very orange or green depending on the ambient light source.

If you light the subject with the same colour temp as the ambient it looks more balanced.

Our Lambency comes with the white dome, does not include the color dome. We are not selling the color dome as well. From most customers feedback, they seldom use the dome (even the white dome) most of the time.

Lambency only offers open and close (dome) configuration, while Fotograde offers lot more flexibility and adjustment, hence greater control over your flash. Here's a good video and website illustrating the difference between Lambency and Fotograde.

and lastly,
