If you have any macro related question, feel free to ask it here :). Before you start, make sure you have checked out our "Show Us Your Macro Rig" thread first though.

Let me kick this off.

Have anyone here do Product shoots or still / abstract macro photography? seems we're very active in inserct macro photography that there are other "wonders" of macro which we may have forgotten.

I'm thinking of still 1:1 flower macro photography man. And also experimentation with TS-E lens with "tubes" of course for depth of field manipulation

I am not to sure if this is the right place to post this so if I make a mistake please advice....I am quite new to photography and have decided to enhance my gear to enable me to do some flower and insect macro & also some HDR landscape shots.

After many nights of searching. Here is the list of items I think I wan to buy.

1) Vanguard Alto Pro 263AT
2) Vanguard SBH-100 Ball head OR Giottos MH1301-652 Ball Head Series II
3) Vanguard Uprise 46 back pack
4) Vanguard Uprise 48 back pack
6) Phottix Plato O6 - Hybrid (wired and wireless) Shutter Release

Any advice on where to get it and best price that can be offered. Also from all the sifus out there how is quality and ease of use of this gear. Appreciate your invaluable advice as I normally try my best to get value for money products. Happy CNY, Valentine & happy holiday to all the folks.

Sir Kurt, i'm planning to go deeper into macro after try shooting using 50mm+ extension tubes.
now i'm kinda blur dunno which 1 should i get 1st...
should i get the EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM or the MP-E65? which 1 should a newbie get 1st?
i know some might say 100% on getting the 100mm cos it can use as portrait as well, but i already have the EF24-70 n EF70-200 f2.8L which can suit tat purpose nicely. so the additional portrait purpose doesnt necessary for me...

Go for the 100mm. MPE is not for beginners.
