[Need help] Artificial fog

Can I request assistance from the photoshop gurus on how to add a realistic looking fog? I've been surfing all over for tutorials but they seem unrealistic or just look ugly.

This is the best I could come up with :

This is the original :

Please help?

Which 2nd one you referring to?

Mine only has edited and original. To get the look, I messed with saturation and vibrance to lose some of the exorbitant colour, levelled it darker to some extent, used the cloud filter, adjusted opacity and erased the bits I didn't want.

Hi izso,

1. Create a duplicate layer of ori photo.
2. Click Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur... (you need to experiment with the Radius pixel depending on image size. but for the one I copied from this post, I used 5.0 pixel).
3. Click Edit > Fade Gaussian Blur > change Opacity to 50% (or to whichever amount suits you best).
4. Create new blank layer
5. Select White foreground color & black background color.
6. Click Filter > Render > Cloud.
7. Change Cloud layer opacity & fill % based on your liking.
8. Click Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur... (you need to experiment with the Radius pixel depending on image size. but for the one I copied from this post, I used 20.0 pixel).
9. Select the duplicate layer of ori photo.
10. Create new layer mask > select black as foreground color > select brush tool with proper brush size then brush over whichever part you want it to appear like in the ori photo.
11. Merge all layer/flatten image.
12. Save to JPEG or whichever format you prefer.
13. Done.

I think I got the steps correct... I was just typing the steps out based on what I can remember as my current machine doesn't have PS installed.

You can also mix in your PS workflow to achieve the color & contrast look you want to get better results...

P/S: There's few other ways to do this but I'm most familiar with this steps. If anyone has better way to do it, or find any error, please don't be shy to share or correct it... thanks!
