Bokeh err, my 55 f1.2 also like that not too friendly bokeh at 1.2. Third pis do you apply any usm. do you find 501.2 is shaper 501.8 at larger apertures??

what!!!??? gojira is actaully a human? geee.... all the while i thot he s a talking giant lizard.

anywhere, i think something is missing in those photos...but just cant tell...

The bokeh is a bit disturbing...too bright or something....can't quite put my finger on it.

3rd pic I slightly sharpened in NIkon Capture. I think 50/1.2 is sharper than 50/1.8 from f2.8 n above.

qq & gojira: These pics lack some story. Just normal family photos. Yes, I also found the bokeh a bit disturbing. Just wanted to share with you especially nikonf2 about the bokeh that this lens produces. Thanks for viewing and your comments.

Alvin....you tried the lens in low light or night? Maybe the bokeh might be "different"...

Regarding the original pics, I find the blown highlights rather distracting and I feel they are a little washed out, due to the camera trying to capture such a large tonal range.

A little fill flash or some more balanced light from a reflector would be good.

They seem a little soft too, perhaps focusing slightly off (as DoF is so tiny!).
