from my 2 cent understanding, this is to minimize photographer to rely on PP. Compose and shoot the best out from yourself instead of keep photoshop this and that

in our point of view, photography is all about the creativity of yourself. Composition and the idea to compose it are more important than your post-process your photograph. Ya, I agree that post-process can make your photo looks more awesome, but that is all about post-processing skill and not photography skill. I am not sure if you agree about it or not.

so basically, what we do is, we based on the composition and techniques to judge the best photo...

in fact, this is a very common rules where most of the photography contest will have such rules.

Just to clarify, the rules are not to stop PP - but to stop digital imaging.

For example such things are NOT allowed:
  • Merging of multiple images
  • Importing/pasting in objects/items not originally in the picture
  • Entirely removing/cloning out objects from original picture
And so on, this is a photography forum and a photography challenge - not a digital imaging contest so the focus is on photography.

Normal PP is allowed (Sharpening, curves, contrast, smoothing etc).

1) Shoot to the theme/title and abide by the rules.
2) Composition how much deliberation before bringing the camera to your eye ball, which may involve alteration to your position/stance/angle etc. For the creative ones even to direct the subject/s for a given shot.
3) Show off your shooting skill set to make it into a winning shot.
4) PP as mentioned by ST to do the final touch on an already good shot but to your satisfaction before posting, since we our selves are the biggest critics of the shots to be posted.

Good luck, 9 days to go !

these two comments between Xavier and ShaolinTiger are quite contradicting. just to clarify, so is like removal of moles(which is similar to pimples) allowed?
