All flies are created equal.

Macro during the holidays. My fav. the hoverfly is really fascinating.

Housefly-common. which was later ID as flesh fly

Lovely captures..like #2 best. #3 is a drone fly hover fly, a male one. #2 maybe a fruit fly. #1 flesh fly.

yup, many thanks for the pointers, will try to keep it still (handhold), I agree with the lights as it gets harsh when I direct it.(even with diffusers). I'll try to bounce more. Off camera looks cool but will be tough in the field. (no experience yet)/.

thanks. if you see it, it looks even cuter, like a cartoon character.
You can try off camera flash if you want..and the subject is willing, but almost all the times, i shoot with a diffused speedlight on flash bracket or MT-24EX twin flasy (with DIY diffuser). Check this out for more lighting ideas: http://orionmystery.blogspot.com/200...ng-setups.html
