Too bad I am not good therefore not confident enough to atempt a DIY mode otherwise I will just put in jack in the Nissin like the pix below. This guy mode it on his 580EX. Maybe I will wait till my warranty runs out! Anyone who's handy with electronics?

where u get this photo from ?

contrary to the manual on Nissin Di622 which says that the Nissin flash will only be able to fire (in slave mode) with Nikon TTL flash... I managed to fire it just like that using manual flash from SB600. SB600 was set to slave and control from D200 camera.

dunno if this info help.

i just bought phottix remote trigger last night. The first problem i did encounter was related to the the receiver itself. The hot shoe was not really connecting to my sb-600. I tried to moved it a bit and it did flashes. So I loose up the screws and slide on few pieces of paper between the receiver plastic body and the steel. Just made it a bit higher close to the flash hot shoe...and it works. Haven't tried on nissin yet.

i tried the phottix receiver on a couple of SB600s (new and old) & all had problem - too tight & have to force it on. In contrast the pt-04 fit like a glove.

btw, does the nissin have auto-standby power mode? Can you disable that?

i open up the di622 flash an hour after i bought it. i found out that, if you go to manual mode, the triggering circuit will be relayed to the optical slave instead of the triggering hot shoe. this is how they(nissin) want it to be.

the replacement to the mono connector will not work unless re-route the trigger circuit. some people have re-route the test button to fire up the flash. but the response time is too slow, less than 1/20s.

the next possible thing is to re-route the optical triggering circuit. i've played with it for few days and still can't get to be triggered by cheap ebay trigger. i'll update the post if i'm manage to get it worked

no good news here, the newer Phottix Tetra (PT-04 II) still doesn't work on Nissin. it won't work with the PT-04 (1st version) either.

Guys, I know that the Phottix trigger system won't work on Nissin flash, but does it works on those Yong Nuo flashes?

Yes.....I was just about to recommend YN flash. I've tried it on the YN460 which is a non dedicated manual flash. However I must say that Nissin 866 also works as well but u have to switch it to manual mode.

It is relatively safe to say that wireless trigger would workon most non dedicated manual flash. I also tried it with Aperture triggers.
