Nikon D800 vs D800e

I just come across a Nikon article on selecting between D800 and D800e. The article clearly define which camera you should use based on your work. Based on the article, most user should use D800.

Enjoy!

Sample images from D800 are up o n the comparometer:

Nikon has done a great shot on IQ with the D800. Pit it against the Canon 5D mkIII and you will see the difference, starts at iso 1600 but at 3200 it is really well visible.

The D800 has visible but smooth and regular pattern noise while the 5D stay clean from noise.
However if you look at the tissues in the studio images you will see that the D800 retains detail perfectly while the 5D has ugly pixelation there and the details are being smugded over by noise reduction and resharpening.
At 6400 things get ugly, lack of contrast, more noise and loss of detail in some parts, while the pixelating/smudging on the 5D gets worse as well.

Still, fully usable up to 3200, pretty darn good at 36MP.

Btw if I put the D700 besides I'm still amazed how this 4yrs old camera compares - you get 'only' 12MP (good enough for 1m size prints...) but the IQ is still very good.
No need to rush and upgrade if you have a D3/D700 in my opinion - except you really want those extra pixels for large size prints, images shot a low ISO. The image detail the D800 captures there is simply amazing.
If you looks at the fabrics and the detail there it blows everything else out of the water - includes the 5D mk III and the D3x...
Simply stunning.
