These are crane flies I believe, commonly misconceived to be mosquitoes.

Also similar in appearance are Winter Gnats, which usually have their wings closed I believe. Got this from a reference book I've got, cant find anything online.

if im not mistaken,those are insects that could walk on the water right? can be found around waterfalls or rapids hehe.. never seen one hanging in air like that though:o

lol... i was shooting these type of fella's at butterfly park.. i tot they were mozzies... thanks for the clarification CM... learn sumthing new everyday...

Um, I have no idea! These were spotted and taken in the KL butterfly farm. You'll spot them amongst leaves.

This was also from the butterfly farm Yah, with CM around we learn something "buggy" everyday!
