Here is another shot recently at the Buddhist Temple (Perak Road, George Town), using Taika Doryt 135mm f2.8 - an Exakta mount lens converted to EOS on my Kodak DCS560. Another zebra lens from the early 1960's, all solid metal Japanese lens.

Here is another MF shot but with the converted P6 CZJ 180mm f2.8 zebra on my 2MP EOS 1n DCS520 - handheld shot. Subject was about 15ft up a 12ft-wall, into the 9am rising sun.
The foto was cropped & sharpened using Picasa. Even the building behind me is visible on the eyes. Heavy lens + Kodak DCS520 brick even more so, but worth the extra effort.

Heheh, Its a bit challenging for MF as you need to close up the aperture to get a nice depth of field, of course you can focus wide open then step down, but sometimes the focus is just a one time hit and run.

Nice shots guys. There are some many options out there, don't even know what to consider. I originally wanted the Leica R SUmmilux 50/1.4 but too expensive!

How do you find your Helios 40-2 and 44?? Weird Bokeh?

Anybody here using any CJZ 28~35 mm prime? Like the Distagon? Any good?

Here's one from the SMC Takumar 50/1.4

and another

Where can you buy MF lenses in Penang? Are they well priced?

Neoro,

I like the dramatic lighting, works out very well. Nice bokeh too.

Feint,

Very nice shots the beauty & the fast lens !

About the Helios 40-2, I know what you mean the bokeh can be tricky but knowing its properties helps since, the 1st Foto the circles are quite distracting, whilst the 2nd Foto can be pleasing and the 3rd Foto giving a very narrow DOF.
Fotos taken with my Kodak DCS520, up Penang Hill, where we met the nice French gentleman on vacation who gave my son the flag when he got fascinated with it.
As for the lenses, I normally hunt mine down on eBay, but since the oil hike, postage is making it prohibitive. Penang I haven't seriously looked but judging from some of the prices they are asking (ie from the shops) I take my chances on eBay.

BTW I am waiting for some B&W film to arrive, that is when I put the 40-2 through its pace. Before that I will get a lens hood since its big front opening is 67mm !
