Smile Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 with built-in motor

Looks like good news for Nikon D40/x owners as Tamron has refreshed their ever popular 17-50mm lens with a built-in motor.

Ah great news, even for other Nikon body owners as the only problem with this lens is the slower focus than the AFS equivalent, I'm not sure what technology Tamron uses for AF though and if it's equivalent to Sigma's HSM or Canon's USM.

I'd estimate RM1600-1800 street price.

I suspect the AF motor is similar to the Canon mount one.

I'm just wondering, will AF accuracy increase? Or is the AF motor going to create more back/front focusing issues?
