That's me alright. Ama Dablang (#1) is a well respected mountain by the local Sherpas at the Khumbu region. For more photos, pls visit picasaweb as given in my above post. Approx 228 photos.

Browsed through your pics, needless to say, amazing scenery, tough people, and congrats on completing the trek.

What was some of the hardest aspects of the trek?

Many thanks for the compliments. The duration of EBC trek varies as there are many possible routes in the Khumbu region. From 14 days to months but once must prepared to spare at least 3 weeks. Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is unpredictable as the weather in the mountain changes within minute. I have heard of some trekkers waited over a week. That was just for going up. Same problem on the way back.

Trained and be well prepared. Gears, clothing, medication and determination. Patience is the ultimate rule. Take you time going up. Let your body adapt to the altitude. Never rush. Altitude sickness kills. Remember to climb high and sleep low. When you encounter symptoms of mountain sickness, tell your guide and go back to lower altitude and rest.

I did Mt Kinabalu in 2008 - 4000m. Langtang National Park in 2009 - 4600m and finally this trip with Kalapathther 5545m or 18,000ft.

Rgds.

Great series from your travelogue. I have been to Nepal for a short trek and I having been yearning to go back. Your pictures bring back sweet memories for me. My friend in Kathmandu has been asking when I will go back. Well, soon, I hope.

Guide USD25/day, porter USD15/day and personal USD35/day. Airfare Lukla return, permits and VISA shud set up with another USD400-500. Flight from KUL to KTM return is abt RM2k. Be prepared for some very basic facility at higher altitude such as Pheriche. Most lodges provide common toilet facility. You are expected to pay for hot shower. Room with attached facility is available at Namche but be prepared to pay USD20/room. Hotel at Kathmandu from USD25 - USD45/room. EBC trek cost is much higher than others such as Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) or Langtang National Park (my Langtang photos available here (http://picasaweb.google.com/daxyhng/LangTangNepal#). Trek with a partner if possible and share the cost.
