Yah but the difference here is those who spam their post count will get ALL posts deleted and get banned permanently.

So it's up to people what they do, act maturely and respect the forum - or try and get their own way regardless of the rules.

To the Mods,

Economy and Money drives traffic. Discouraging buy and sell is your worst choice IMO. Having 50 posts to post before you can buy and sell is such a bad idea because it floods your other forum with "yeah nice pix" , "way to go bro" comments...i am not sure if the poster even looked at those pictures and analyse it in their frantic quest to reach 50 posts so they can sell off their lens to finance their next gadget.

You must let your second hand market place to flourish to achieve success on the net. Have a few tier of entrepreneur pricing to fit for big outfit like YL or small start ups like a home business. Stronger policing to reduce spam advertising and those who sells item UNRELATED to photography.

With vibrant market place, your members will increase. When they lurk around your site looking for deals, more likely they will click other forums to either learn or to share. The deal is simple. Compare your 50 posts to Photomalaysia 20 posts requirement and see the huge difference in market place vibrancy. I suggest you reduce it further to zero, who needs "nice pic bro" all over the forum, it may seem a kind comment but it is also one without substance.

We previously had that model, and the buy/sell posts were too vibrant they were dominating everything else.

This is not a trading forum, it's a photography forum.

That's the difference between here and 'other forums'. We promote photography, sharing pictures and discussion on techniques and gear.

We don't promote trading, it's a by product of our hobby but it's not our main focus.

If we could we'd completely remove it, but we do realise at times we all need to buy and sell stuff.

Those posting 50 posts to reach the limit are banned without prejudice, so for us the system is working well so far.

New gear is useless if you don't know what to do with it, so yah! Participate!
