In term of composition, i like the first one; not the second one (this broken head is not nice with the full body; you should have taken half body only).
You don't give enough light. That makes the picture flat.
Try to put a small flash to lighten the background, behind your subject. It will change your pic.

Oh last but not least ... White Balance mate ...

It's not just soft, but also too warm and underexposed.

Should be something like this
