To me, not being able to deregister oneself as a member in a forum is a technical shortcoming that needs to be looked into by SA. Ideally, there should be such a choice. I myself do not know that there is none.

I remember the incident where the Malaysian IC department refuses to remove the religion stated on someone's IC eventhough he/she had stated that he/she no longer believes in/practices that religion. That incident may be a bit more complicated as it involves religion but the general principle is that when someone wants out, he should be allowed to go out and have his name off the roll.

What difference does it make? If one doesn't like a particular forum, just stop going there. Period. But i won't be suprised if it makes some people feel good to de-register himself/herself.
