Resizing Your Pictures for Shutter Asia

1) Our guidelines require any pictures posted to the forum be 1024 pixel at the widest size so everyone can view them comfortably. There are a few ways to resize your picture depending on which software you are using. With Adobe Photoshop it's as below, select Image - Image size.

2) For Shutter Asia use and most websites, you need to select the longest side as 1024px.

3) After resizing for web it's recommended to run Unsharp mask at 150% 0.3 pixels 0 threshold to account for loss of sharpness by downsizing (Filter - Sharpen - Unsharp Mask).

4) Free alternatives include Microsoft Powertoy, GIMP and Irfanview. You can get them here:

Microsoft Powertoy Image Resizer

5) To resize with Powertoy, install powertoy then right click on the image you want to resize and choose "Resize Pictures".

6) Then choose 'Medium', be warned the quality which Powertoy produces when resizing is not acceptable to most who enjoy photography. It is a quick, simple, easy and free method however.

It's recommended to resize with Irfanview or GIMP, you can find tutorials on how to do so here:
