Talking Gunung Nuang Photo Hillwalk™

Hi guys and girls, (we are young at heart )
I would like to invite SA forumers who are interested for a morning session Photo Hillwalk™at Gunung Nuang. Details below


Venue: Gunung Nuang car park, Pangsun, Hulu Langat, Selangor (Highest peak at 1493m) (Directions can be found below)
Destination: Lolo Dam (~570m) before we make a U-turn back
Group size: 20 max, incl. 1 leader & 1 sweeper
Entrance Fee: RM1.00 per person

Date: 27-7-08 Sunday
Time: 8.30am
Duration: Around 5 hours. (est. 1pm back to car park)

Waiting Points:
#1 Tesco Extra, Tmn Midah, Cheras Roundabout @7.30am
#2 G.Nuang car park @8.30am sharp (Directions can be found below)

Objectives:
- Casual shooting (flora&fauna near foothill, waterfall, jungle, people)
- Having fun
- Eating cookies.

Condition: Safe and easy, damp jungle, worst mobile coverage
Stamina: Moderate (imagine jogging for 1km )
Muscle Strength: Moderately easy

Recommended Items:
- 1 to 3ltrs of drinking water
- Shoes or sandals (Hiking shoes prefered)
- Extra clean shoes and clothes (to change after the Hillwalk™ sweat and mud)
- Trekking Pole or walking stick
- Salt (leech removal)

Optional Items:
- Cigaratte ash (to clot the blood of a leech suck)
- Wound Plaster
- Disposable raincoat or umbrella

Facilities:
- Proper car park bays, limited
- Washrooms (foothill only)

Description of Hillwalk™:
- The NeverEnding™ MuddyRoad™: 1-2hours walk
- Lolo Camp and waterfall: 15mins rest
- Towards Lolo Dam: 15mins hike for a big rest before heading down.

Precaution:
- Leeches (especially in mud, damp leaves and tree bark, avoid stepping into mud whenever possible)

How to reach Nuang's car park:
- From KL, head to Cheras/Hulu Langat/Kajang
- Passby Leisure Mall(left), Pheonix Plaza(right)
- Pay RM1.00 toll at Grand Saga
- Immediately after the toll, turn left at the exit that says Air Terjun Sg. Gabai
- Go straight for 5-10mins until you see a police station in front(right)
- Turn left at the traffic light before the police station
- Go straight towards Pangsun for 20-30mins passby Pekan bt18
- At the end of Pangsun, there is a TNB sub station and a split road
- Take the left and narrow winding road up for 5mins
- There will be an arch with a short steep road to the parking area.

Is there any particular highlight of this area e.g. birding/insects macro/natural scenery,sunrise?

Errm... not really a particular highlight: dense jungle and sunray only (if the sky is clear in the morning). just a casual shooting and an exercise

not much varieties of macro either, the most expected insects are ants, butterflies and jungle flowers, and with occasional mantis, crickets, dragonfly, bugs if you go off path.

Bump up for a good leader....

I went for this walk before with Kenneth as the leader. It was a nice simple walk, which wasn't too tough....

Good for exercise too!
