I think you should be able to get pretty good shots even with this setup. A lot depends whether the raptor is flying towards your direction and overhead or nearly. So you may like to ask those who arrive earlier where the birds are coming in. A tripod will help. A hat or umbrella and lots of drinking water and sunglasses when you are waiting. GOOD LUCK

Wow. 600mm is a good range. I'll probably go test one out later. You will be there on saturday right? I maybe there a day earlier to avoid the crowd.
