My Personal Thaipusam Experience

My second time at this event (first in 2009). This time it was a more 'personal' experience for me, as some of the later pics of this series might better explain. Ahahaha. Had no real shooting plan except wanted to go up the stairs, as I didn't cover that area on my first time. I think the pics ended up slightly diff from my first time. Still room for improvement, definitely want to go again.

Thanks!

**************

This is the point where things got interesting...........

I was shooting about and saw this guy and turned to shoot him, however something caught his attention and he raised his hand and came towards me.

18.

I thought : "Oh cool, a close shot", and expected him to get close up to me and stop.....and eventually as he still kept coming and then went hysterical and went wwwoooooooaoaaaahh I realized that he wasn't stopping in time.

19.

Bam! His finger slammed into the lens of my camera and I could see him rubbing his fingers on the glass. I wasn't sure what to think except, I recall I was quite calm and thought, "Oh, I think he's a bit too close, and why is he rubbing my lens"

20.

Somehow I am surprised that I kept shooting though it all. It was surreal looking at it though the viewfinder. And was lucky enough to still see his face though the fingers on my lens. :O

Definitely the highlight of the event for me.......:O Sorry for the poor quality and lack of focus. :O

Yeah, ahaha, thanks. Definitely am lucky, that nothing bad happened. Not sure what attracted his attention, but he was quite deep in his trance indeed.

Never felt that these people are intent on violence really (not even unconsciously), and never did I felt threatened. One can only guess what was going through his mind at that time of #20.
